In this interview, Kevin Kimball shares his experience building the Gee Bee Z—an earlier aircraft that Bob Hall contributed to before designing the Hall Bulldog.

About Kevin Kimball

Kevin Kimball built a replica of the Gee Bee Z, the renowned racing aircraft that Bob Hall helped design with the Granville Brothers before parting ways to create his own aircraft—the Bulldog.

His firsthand experience with Hall’s engineering provides valuable insights into the design philosophy and construction techniques that would have carried over to the Bulldog project.

The Gee Bee Connection

Before designing the Bulldog, Bob Hall contributed to the Gee Bee Z with the Granville Brothers. A disagreement led Hall to part ways and pursue his own aircraft designs, ultimately creating the Bulldog with financing from the Guggenheim family.
