Hall Bulldog Wing Construction Progress - March 2021
Part of The Hall Bulldog Project — documenting Bob Hall's 1932 Thompson Trophy racer.
Explore the Project →These photos from Kevin Kimball document the Hall Bulldog wing construction progress as of March 2021. The wing features a traditional wood construction with built-up truss ribs and wooden spars, following the design patterns common in 1930s racing aircraft.
Wing Structure Overview
The Hall Bulldog wing uses an elliptical planform with the NACA M6 airfoil section. The internal structure consists of wooden spars, compression members, and built-up truss ribs. This construction method provides excellent strength-to-weight ratio while maintaining the authentic appearance of the original 1932 aircraft.
