For ten years, from 2015 to Fall 2025, I had the privilege of flying one of the most capable aerobatic aircraft ever built: an Extra 330SC that I affectionately called “The Fuzz Machine.”

A True Performer

The Extra 330SC is a 315 horsepower unlimited class composite aerobatic monoplane, built in Germany. With a blistering 420 degrees per second roll rate—more than one full roll every second—and capable of +/- 10gs, this aircraft pushed the limits of what’s possible in aerobatic flight.

During air shows and competitions, I routinely pulled 10 Gs, pushed -7 Gs, and reached speeds of 250 mph. The aircraft was an extension of my will in the sky, responding instantly to every input.

More Than an Aerobatic Machine

What many people don’t realize is that the Extra 330SC is also an excellent cross-country aircraft. With a Garmin G3X panel and autopilot, I could cruise at 180 knots with a 500 nautical mile range at just 17 gallons per hour. It was the perfect combination of performance and practicality.

A Fond Farewell

I sold The Fuzz Machine in Fall 2025, but the memories of flying this incredible aircraft will stay with me forever. It carried me through countless competitions, air shows, and cross-country adventures.
